The flu. My little one caught the flu and his fever went up to 104! While he was sick he lost a couple of pounds and I was directed to use Pediasure to help him regain the weight. If you read the ingredients of Pediasure you will find artificial colors and flavors. As well as modified fats and added sugar. So my wonderful husband went online and found Judy Converse who has developed some pediasure-ish natural recipes. My son loves them! He calls them milk shakes, but they are dairy and gluten free. Here is one of her recipes that my son loves.

Power Peanut:    ½ soft ripe avocado, 1 TBSP cacao nibs, 1 TBSP hemp protein (such as Nutiva brand), 1 TBSP peanut butter, 1 cup So Delicious or Silk coconut milk, 2 teaspoons honey, crushed ice; add more coconut milk to desired texture.

Using a variation of this recipe I came up with this one.

Chocolate Raspberry: 1 cup greens (spinach, kale), 1 banana, 1 tsp carob powder, 1 TBSP tahini, 1 cup frozen raspberries,1/4 cup cashews, 1/2 cup coconut milk, and 1/2 cup water or apple juice.

I mixed it all up in my Nutrablend. Added a straw and my son drinks his "milk shake," without complaints.
